The world’s future leaders are today’s children and youth, many of them in Africa. Even though many economies on the African continent are growing, many families and schools in Africa do not have the resources to ensure children are able to attend school, receive a quality education and graduate.
Sponsoring a child is a wonderful way to help change the life of a child in need and bring hope to his or her entire community. How to sponsor a child in Africa: How does sponsorship work and what are the steps involved?
Kids Lacrosse Africa provides continuous impact for the growth and development of children, specifically education.
When you sponsor a child, funds will go directly towards supporting their education.
Educational support is a tested and proven way to impact lives by providing the vital knowledge and skills a child needs for independence, and ability to contribute to their family, community, nation, and the Globe.
Child sponsorship is the best way for you to impact or change a life in Africa. On-going support is fundamental to effect permanent change
By sponsoring a child, you join a family of “life-givers” around the world who share your commitment to change the world, one child at a time.

- Click: Pushing the “Sponsor Today” button presents you with a short form to complete.
- Respond: After submitting the form, you will receive an email with instructions for payment / or sign up for payment through the site.
Ethical
Your impact is ethical. There’s no one-to-one connection between the sponsor and the child. That means there’s no chance of unhealthy attachments, jealousy between children, or negative interactions. Instead, a sponsor receives consistent updates on a child, as well as quarterly newsletters about various children in the program, to see how your support of that program impacts a variety of children within their unique circumstances.
How does sponsorship work?
When you make either a one-time gift or recurring monthly gift your contributions are pooled with funds of other sponsors of children in the community. These funds enable poor kids from impoverished families to continue their education. In many of our families, educational costs can be overwhelming given their economic position. In some situations, educational priorities must take a lower priority to other family needs.
Kids Lacrosse Africa helps to provide food, water, shelter, clothing, medical supplies, school fees, books, uniforms, and other items as needed.
In short, funds from Kids Lacrosse Africa help children stay in school and thrive while there. Education provides a path for these children to succeed, gain confidence, and assist their families and communities.
As a sponsor, what will I receive throughout the year?
Sponsoring a child through Kids Lacrosse Africa is a great way to connect with a child, and help make a difference in Africa. Additionally, exchanging photographs and letters will allow you and your family to learn about the life of children and families in Africa. Sponsorship is a wonderful opportunity to build relationships. It’s a learning experience and it’s a great way to teach your children to help others. It is life-transforming!
Once we receive your first monthly gift, we will send you a sponsorship package by email (or hardcopy upon request) which will include a photo and profile of your child and other information about your child. You can also expect to receive handwritten notes from the child, photos, scanned copies of the child’s grade/report card, and reports on the child’s overall well-being.
What Is Expected of Me as a Sponsor?
Kids love to receive letters. This makes them feel special. Communication helps to build a relationship. The kids also learn a lot from your letters. We would deeply appreciate your sending a letter and photos at least once or twice a year. Your child would love to know that you care for him/her.
- You are welcome to mail a gift. We can include this in a shipment – sent every 3-4 months. This could be clothes, a laptop, an iPad, an eBook Reader, etc.
- You could make an additional donation on your child’s birthday or at Christmas etc.
- You could send video messages, photos of you and your family, etc.
- You can sponsor a child for as long as you want. However, we do recommend that you try to sponsor a child for at least two years because this brings stability to his or her life and family.
- Donations will be processed in your local currency

What if I can’t sponsor a child, but still want to make a donation to a specific child?
Every dollar donated to a child in need is a gift and greatly appreciated by that child and their family. If you would like to make a donation to a specific child, please make a donation and simply add the child’s name on the form. If you would like us to choose a child for you or simply want a boy or girl to receive the gift, please let us know below.
What you will give is a wonderful gift to a worthy child. And there’s no limit to the one-time gifts so if you decide you want to donate to that child or another child later in the year, they will welcome your gift then too.
Why Are Some of the Kids on The Site Youths/College Age?
The Kids Lacrosse Africa program was started in 2015. Some of the original kids have grown up and phased out. Some families need support as their kids go to high schools and technical institution. We also have some orphans getting into high school.
We have extended our program to include youths through college till the completion of their Bachelor’s degree. The advantage of sponsoring a yours is that the communication will be more insightful.
